Nothing strikes my attention like a girl with beautifully highlighted cheeks– not like that no makeup glow, but that wow, what is she wearing type of response.
My highlighter from the Nars Guy Bourdin palette has been pretty much empty for a while now, though I desperately shove my brush into the uttermost corners of the pan each morning anyways. It was a beauty–a luminous, subtly sparkly cheek without the yellow powdery residue underneath that I find with most highlighters.
Of course with my luck, I fell in love with a limited edition product and now was left abandoned and highlighter-less (*shutters*). I’d been doing research for quite sometime, unable to find a reasonably priced product that would give me the subtle but striking results I wanted. Until this fella, The Mary-Lou Manizer, seemed to suddenly be all the hype. And I mean it. All of a sudden, EVERYONE was using it and I knew what I needed to do.
Alas, it arrived (I had to buy from amazon since The Balm isn’t sold in Canada), and it really has been true love ever since. The cute compact with the Taylor Swift looking convict on the front is adorable, but that’s only the beginning. The fine powder goes on beautifully and not yellowy. And as you move your head in the light, your high points catch the light in a shimmery glow that is most definitely a head turner. In darker lighting, your face has a radiance that is subtle enough that people will think you were very lucky in the gene pool.
