Between last week’s cold snap, ramping up the heat in my office, and the dryness of my old apartment building’s radiators, my skin has been feeling dry and papery.
Despite layers serums and doing frequent nighttime moisture masks, my face was still getting that tight feeling when I was at the office.
To battle the life getting sucked out of my face, I’ve made two switches: getting a mini desktop humidifier and adding a second moisturizer.
Yes, a little machine on your desk might seem a little dorky, but it definitely helps. Sometimes it’s so arid in my office, I find myself sticking my face in the little stream of air to get a bit of hydration.
As for injecting some extra moisture, I consulted my trusty skin guru Ellis of BeautyNext, and she recommended mixing my current moisturizer (Biologique Recherche Crème Dermopurifiante) with Biologique Recherche’s Gel ADN Silkgen, which is a thick, gelly moisturizer (very different from winter’s typical heavy creams). This guy really plumps up the skin, tightens pores (seriously) and adds that boost of moisture my face so badly needs. It feels clean and fresh, and is perfect for hydrating without adding oil or triggering breakouts–I think it would be great for summer months, too. Dry, winter skin be damned.
