And what you’ve all been waiting for…
Chanel’s Holiday 2014 collection, Plumes Précieuses, is inspired by the opulence and glamour of festive holiday parties–evening gowns, gold, you know, the usual. Reds and metallics are what largely make up the collection.
What is more classic at the holidays than red lips and tips? Chanel has done this tradition to a T with a blazing red polish, Phénix (limited edition), and La Flamboyante, a matte, fiery red from the Rouge Allure Velvet line.
The polish is super creamy and opaque, giving complete coverage in one coat. The lipstick applies as a creamy lipstick (unlike many matte lipstick), with great pigmentation and leaves a gorgeous matte finish.
Les 5 Ombres eyeshadow palette in Oiseau de Nuit (limited edition) contains all the shades needed to create a classic or metallic smoky eye. All timeless shades, I think this would be a great palette to have on hand year-round for parties and the like, or for whenever you want to be a glamorous Chanel bird of the night.
As I created my look for this post, I was actually surprised at how quickly the smoky eye came together–the shadows were very easy to blend. After using the mauve shades, I added a touch of the gold on the outer side of my lids.
Chanel’s Camélia de Plumes Powder in Platine (limited edition), is a finely milled, luxurious platinum shimmer. The flower, I think, is the houses’ emblem, the Camellia flower, made of feathers (plumes, get it?). Either way, it’s pretty to look at. This highlighting powder contains shimmers of grey and silver, with a touch of light gold.
Definitely not a collection to be missed.
