The fashion weeks are among us!! And while we’re already almost done in London, I thought we could discuss the beauty in New York last week.
The look of the season was pretty obviously not much of a look at all (i.e. Boss).
However, we all know how much work no-makeup makeup really is. Luminous, fresh, bare (looking) skin was all over the runways for spring, from Versus to 3.1 Phillip Lim to Marc Jacobs (hidden under the shaggy black fringe). Major highlighting on the cheekbones and on the eyes– they even added a dab of gold.
3.1 PHILIP LIM
Rodarte spiced up the bare minimal look adding extensive (but not excessive) brow piercings along with some peachy blush and eye shadow.
At Michael Kors, models sported a similar cheek (almost as if the models got a little too much sun) along with a subtly defined eye.
The most glam we saw was the Bardot-esque smokey eye and nude lip at DvF, and even so, the matte shadows and blended lines kept it soft and understated.

With the warm weather comes music festivals, which means experimental makeup (or none at all). The 60’s-inspired star tattoos at Tommy Hilfiger were adorable but still cool, and require minimal makeup everywhere else.
At Altuzarra, the models wore fake lashes only in the very centres of their upper lash lines, which made for a simple doe-eyed effect that also looks great on it’s own.
For an easy up-do, the modern twisty faux-hawks at Marc by Marc Jacobs would be a quick fix for a sweaty day outside.

Hair chalks are still cool (and will always be cool, in my opinion), as seen at Badgley Mishka, and take a simple braid to the next level for all you colour-commitment-phobes (myself included)– they also chalked-up the brows.
And if you’re really feeling the sixties vibe, the ladies at Anna Sui rocked chunk gold glitter on and under the eyes– one of my favourite looks.
As for hair, the ‘natural’ (but totally not effortless) look was seen almost everywhere– smooth waves, not a ton of volume, and like the skin, shiny and radiant.
