Some people just aren’t red lip people. Which is perfectly understandable, really. Sometimes, all I want is for my lips to look less pale than usual, with a really subtle nude/pink shade. This is where the “My Lips But Better” category enters. It’s the no makeup, makeup of lipsticks. They’re really perfect for any situation: casual weekend makeup, paired with a smokey eye, or a polished professional look. It ties up any ends that might have made bare lips look unfinished.

Two Chanel lipsticks always have a place in my purse for these occasions. Rouge Coco Shine in Boy is a nudey-pink that applies like a balm: sheer and with a sheen (foolproof for when you can’t get your hands on a mirror). Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle is a creamy lipstick that requires no lipliner (easy peasy), with a touch more kick to it–a more pigmented application with a slightly darker beige-pink. The Rouge Coco formula is by far my favourite for lipsticks: it’s longwearing, never bleeds, and can be applied straight from the tube (i.e. low-maintenance and perfect for the lazy/forgetful girl).

Fun fact: Both of these shades were actually used for their respective ad campaigns.
