I’ve tried many, many fragrances, and I’m just more of the type to wear a different one each day than to have a signature. Why? Well, I just haven’t found that unique, beautiful scent that is worthy of surrounding me each day yet (that sounds super self-centered, but I’m sure you can understand what I mean, right?). So when Amanda and I received Lancôme’s  newest fragrance, La Vie Est Belle, she wasn’t really willing to try it out. Me on the other hand, well, while I love my many perfumes that I own, rotating them on the daily, I’ve come to believe that the formulas of the majority or perfumes don’t last on me– I could get a good hour and a half’s wear of Flora by Gucci. Such a bummer.

Now, onto this eau de parfum. How about I give the actual breakdown of the notes, then what it smells like to me. It is said to be a deep, optimistic mix of iris, patchouli and gourmand. For me, it comes off as very feminine, floral (but not overbearingly so) and a bit mature. It’s not particularly unique though, just very pretty and I find that a lot of women smell like it– perhaps there is a similar perfume out there. What stuck out to me was is staying power. I can smell this on myself after around six hours of wear, which is, and should be of HUGE importance to a customer. A blend can be the most beautiful and extraordinary on the planet, but if you can’t smell it on me when I wear it, what good is the perfume? I think my skins chemistry naturally doesn’t hold a fragrance well, but when one lasts this long, I know it’s pretty darn special.
